Falling Like Snowflakes

Falling like Snowflakes
by Denise Hunter

I loved pretty much everything about this book - but I expected to going into it because Denise Hunter has quickly become one of my absolute favorite contemporary Christian authors!

Falling Like Snowflakes isn't your typical Denise Hunter romance. She does so much more with this story by weaving in a little bit of action and a lot of suspense. Eden's story isn't an easy one to read because of some of what life has dealt her but her perseverance was amazing. I love it when an author can take a hard situation in life and portray it in such an open and honest way without making the book too graphic. I was able to connect with Eden's hardships but at the same time didn't feel like they were the main focal point of the story and I appreciated that. I also loved getting to know her son Micah and watching him blossom under love and support.

Of course I also loved the love story aspect of the book. This book made me feel such a mixture of emotions that I found myself angry, sad, and giggly at different times in the book. But in the end the love story was still the main theme of the book and like Hunter delivered! Normally I'm not big on Christmas themes but I got some good laughs out of mistletoe placement in this book! I also appreciated how Eden and Beau had to work to get through things before they could fall for each other. I like books that seem realistic even while being fiction because the characters come across as people I might actually be friends with and not just far off fake people that get everything perfect the first time.

With Denise Hunter's books I'm realizing that the latest one I've read is always my favorite! Falling like Snowflakes had such a great balance of love and suspense that I cannot wait to read book two in the series and I have no doubt it will then become my new favorite. Anytime an author can touch so many of my emotions and give me a happy ending is a good day. I also love authors who weave characters from previous series into the next one. It was a joy to see characters from Married 'til Monday in this one.

I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
