Miracle for Jen

Miracle for Jen: a true story by Linda Barrick with John Perry

I just finished this amazing true story of a family who overcame the effects of a horrific car accident to be placed in a position to touch more lives with God's help than they could have ever imagined!

Miracle for Jen: A Tragic Accident, a Mother's Desperate Prayer, and Heaven's Extraordinary Answer
After the Barrick's family van was demolished by a drunk driver's oncoming car none of them should have survived.  But God had bigger plans for them.  The teenage son survived with very minimal injuries; the parents were both in the hospital for weeks and in wheelchairs recovering even longer; but the daughter was injured the worst and was left in a coma for months.

This story features the power of prayer.  When Jen awoke from her coma she awoke praying and giving praise to God.  She didn't have any memories of the accident nor could she retain her short term memory but she did remember that God was her heavenly father and that he deserved all her love and praise.  Through Jen's own prayers, her family's prayers, her friend's prayers, and truthfully the whole world's prayers she endured a miraculous recovery.  She will never be "normal" again but she continues to improve daily and even though she has trouble functioning with many aspects of life, when she gets up in front of a group to share her testimony she is flawless through God's amazing power.

This book will make you laugh and cry.  It will also remind you that if Jen and her family could overcome so many obstacles that you can too!  Jen and both of her parents still are plagued with daily pain from their injuries but they don't let that stop them from praising God and sharing the Good News whenever and wherever they can!

For me, as a person that deals with a chronic pain syndrome on a much smaller scale, it is a reminder that God is with us even when we are in pain and that he truly doesn't give us more than we can handle with His help.

Tyndale House Publishers provided me with a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
