Lucetta Plum is an actress on the rise in New York City, but is forced to abandon her starring role when a fan’s interest turns threatening. Lucinda’s widowed friend, Abigail Hart, is delighted at the opportunity to meddle in Lucetta’s life and promptly whisks her away to her grandson’s estate to hide out.
Bram Haverstein may appear to simply be a somewhat eccentric gentleman of means, but a mysterious career and a secret fascination with a certain actress mean there’s much more to him than society knows.
Lucetta, who has no interest in Abigail’s matchmaking machinations, has the best intentions of remaining cordial but coolly distant to Bram. But when she can’t ignore the strange and mysterious things going on in his house, it’ll take more than good intentions to keep her from trying to discover who Bram is behind the part he plays.

After reading books one and two in this series and loving them both I was really looking forward to book three.
Lucetta is quite the character. I found myself relating to her stubbornness but not as much to her creative side. Her skills in acting and disguise are amazing. I especially loved the scene where she was so well disguised that no one knew who she was. Bram grew on me throughout the book but his many secrets made it hard for me to love him.
Probably my favorite part of this book was watching Lucetta and Bram go through so many feelings for each other. They kept me on my toes guessing for quite a while. I also loved seeing Millie and Harriet from the first two books. I have to admit I loved books one and two more than this third one. I just didn't relate as well to the characters in this book. But Turano is still one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to read whatever she comes up with next!
Bethany House provided me with a complimentary copy of this book through Net Galley in exchange for my honest review.
