365 Slow Cooker Suppers
by Stephanie O'Dea
Back in 2008 I heard about a woman that decided to use her slow cooker EVERY SINGLE DAY for a year. I didn't hear about her in time to read her experiment from the beginning but I fell in love with her blog anyway! You can read about her year long experiment here. And since then her website has flourished and she has published three cookbooks specifically for slow cookers!
The latest one, 365 Slow Cooker Suppers, is true to form wonderful just like her original blog and her first two books! Each recipe calls for simple, easy to find ingredients (even gluten free ones!), has very minimal instructions to follow that will take only 10-15 minutes, and has to the hour instructions on how long to cook the meal depending on if you are using high or low on your crock pot. Then she kindly gives you her "verdict" from each recipe!
I really love that she takes the time to try each and every recipe she publishes and shares what she and her whole family think of each dish. Sometimes she loves it and they hate it. Sometimes they love it and she doesn't. Sometimes it is a huge hit and sometimes not at all but at least she is honest!
This book is amazing because she separates the different types of recipes. For example: soups, beef, poultry... Probably the only thing that could have made this book better would have been a section on desserts :)
This book also has beautiful photography of many of the dishes.
The first recipe I tried from this book was "Apple Chops" and it was delicious. It only had 5 ingredients. Took me about 5-10 minutes to prep and tasted great!
This book was provided to me by the publisher, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, in exchange for my honest review.
